Reynir Lyngdal

Already in his teens Lyngdal was quite the prodigy, winning numerous awards for video art and short films. After studying cinematic arts at the prestigious CECC in Barcelona, Lyngdal returned to his native Iceland. Not Forgetting his artistic roots he directed a slew of choreographic shorts winning awards as far apart as Reykavik Short Film Festival and the Toronto Film Festival.

Lyngdal Prefers a hands-on approach, immersing himself in the creative process from the initial conceptualisation to final editing. His commercial efforts have received a number of awards at home and abroad. In the summer of 2003 one of his commercials for Thule Breweries was shortlisted at Cannes.

Lyngdal was chosen by the European Film Academy & Wim Wenders to create and direct the short film, KISSING shown at the European Film Academy Awards, 2003.

In his spare time Reynir, married to actress Elma Lisa Gunnarsdottir, deejays campy 80s music to nurture the club-youth of Iceland.
